Cross Country Schedules Announced
July 12, 2002 BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics has announced the 2002 men's and women's cross country schedules. The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells are slated to compete in seven races prior to the Mid-American Conference Championship on Nov. 2. Highlighting the schedule is the Falcons' lone home meet, the Mel Brodt Invitational, on Saturday, Sept. 14. The men's race is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m., with the women's race scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. start. The 2002 meet will mark the 16th annual Mel Brodt Invite. The Falcons open the season with an August 31 trip to Ypsilanti, Mich. Following that meet, hosted by Eastern Michigan, BGSU heads to Purdue on Sept. 7 before hosting the Brodt the following week. BGSU also will participate in the Central Collegiates (Sept. 28), Notre Dame Invitational (Oct. 4), All Ohio Championships (Oct. 11) and Auburn Invitational (Oct. 19) before heading to Oxford, Ohio, for the MAC meet. The conference races will be hosted by Miami University. The Great Lakes Regional races are scheduled for Nov. 16 in West Lafayette, Ind., with the NCAA Championships slated for Nov. 25 in Terre Haute, Ind. The 2001 men's cross country team finished eighth at the MAC Championship and 25th in the regional meet, while the women were 12th at the league race and 23rd at the regionals.
