Five Falcons Make MAC Honor Roll

Jan. 10, 2002

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has announced the 2001 MAC Women's Cross Country Honor Roll, and five members of the Bowling Green State University team were among those honored.

Senior Sarah Lohrbach (3.18 grade point average/integrated mathematics) and juniors Cyndi Bostdorff (3.68/undecided), Joy Echler (3.11/special education), Christy Paine (4.00/physical therapy) and Kristin Spicer (3.95/biology) all were named to the team.

The MAC Honor Roll is in its third year of existence.

To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.

Additionally, the conference office has reinstituted the Academic All-MAC Team after a two-year absence, and two Falcons have been named to that squad. Bostdorff, Paine and Spicer all are Academic All-MAC Team members for 2001.

To be named to the Academic All-MAC Team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.

The Falcons finished in 12th place at the 2001 MAC Championships, and BGSU was 23rd at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
