Women's Cross Country Places 12th

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team finished 12th at the 2001 Mid-American Conference Championship Saturday (Oct. 27). The race was held at the Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti.

The Falcons posted a team total of 311 points. Toledo won the race with 71 points, while Ball State (79 pts.) placed second.

Kenet State (82), Miami and Central Michigan (120 each), Western Michigan (162), Ohio (188), Akron (190), Marshall (248), Eastern Michigan (262), Buffalo (271), BGSU (311) and Northern Illinois (312) rounded out the 13-team field.

Individually, the Falcons were led by junior Joy Echler, who placed 26th overall in a time of 19:13.6. Freshman Melissa Krueger was 67th, with a time of 19:59.1.

Other Falcon finishers were senior Sarah Lohrbach (70th, 20:05.8), freshman Elise Gould (81st, 20:19.5), junior Cyndi Bostdorff (89th, 20:36.4), freshman Nicole Suitor (90th, 20:37.0), sophomore Amber Culp (95th, 20:48.2) and juniors Christy Paine (106th, 22:02.1) and Kristin Spicer (107th, 22:19.8).
