Nov. 13 - at Eastern Michigan 3, BGSU 0

Nov. 13, 1999

The host Eagles took it to the Falcons in a three-game win (15-3, 15-5, 15-11) that gave EMU a sweep of the season series. The three-game setback was BGSU's first since Oct. 1, and BG's 19 total points tied the 1999 season low.

For the Brown and Orange, Caty Rommeck was the top hitter, with a .316 percentage. Rommeck had seven kills, with just one error, in 19 attempts. Lori Kemerer was the team leader in kills, with nine.

Defensively, Heather Greig had a team-high 11 digs, while Rommeck had five block assists. Kemerer and JoAnna Papageorgiou each had four blocks on the afternoon.

Eastern Michigan hit .248 on the day, led by Karen Simpson's .417 percentage.

The Falcons enter the final week of the regular season with a tenuous hold on the fourth seed for the Mid-American Conference Tournament. BGSU (11-6 in MAC play) leads both Eastern Michigan and Miami (9-7) by a game-and-a-half, but the Falcons would lose a tiebreaker with either team. A Falcon win over Buffalo would clinch the fourth seed and a homecourt berth in the quarterfinal round of the league tourney. If the Falcons lose, BG still could secure the home berth if both EMU and MU lost once. Eastern Michigan concludes the regular season with matches against Marshall Friday (Nov. 19) and Northern Illinois Saturday (Nov. 20). Miami wraps up the campaign with a pair of home matches, Wednesday (Nov. 17) vs. Toledo and Saturday vs. Ohio.
