High School: Katie has a personal-best of 41'9. 75" in the shot put and 111' in the discus...Placed 3rd at the 2007 Division III Ohio State Meet in the shot put, earning All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio Honors...Placed 5th in the 2007 Midwest Meet of Champions in the shot put...Earned a four year varsity letter in track as a thrower, and was a three year letter winner in both basketball and soccer...Won several shot put championships in 2007 including the DIII Bucyrus District, Firelands Conference, Mehock Relays, Bucyrus Invitational, Crestview Invitational, Perkins Relays, and Bellevue Invitational...Named the 2007 Times-Gazette Female Track Athlete of the Year...Also the recipient of WMFD Scholar Athlete Award...2006 Conference Champion in the shot put, placed fifth in the Northwest Regional with a throw of 40'0.25", Times-Gazette 1st Team All-Area Athlete - thrower 2007, 2006 and 2005, Mansfield New Journal 1st Team All Area Athlete 2007 & 2006, 2006 Wendy's Heisman Athlete Nominee, 1st Team All-Academic in track, basketball, and soccer 2007, 2006, 2005, & 2004...Earned the 2007 Distinguished Athlete Award - U.S. Marine Corps, also a recipient of 2007 WMFD Embarq Scholar Athlete Award, and the 2007 Embarq Society of Women Engineers Award, as well as the Presidents Award for "Educational Excellence" and the 2007 Crestview Scholar Athlete Award...Selected team captain and recipient of 2007 Coaches Award for Basketball...Member of two basketball Sectional Championship Teams in 2007 & 2005, and Goalie for the 2004 Soccer District Runner-Up Team...Also a member of the National Honor Society and graduated number one in her class, with an overall GPA of 4.0...high school track coach was Bob Staley.
