CYGAN AND THE FALCONS
Helped the Falcons to MAC Tournament appearances in each of her four seasons, including three trips to the championship match and conference titles in both her freshman and sophomore years ... helped BGSU to the first MAC Tournament title in school history as a frosh in 2004 ... as a soph, helped the Brown and Orange to both the MAC's regular-season and tournament crowns in '05.
2007
A 2007 team captain ... named the Falcons' MVP on offense for the second consecutive season ... scored seven points, on three goals and an assist ... played in 21 games, making 16 starts ... had a pair of goals, including the winner, against Western Michigan ... also scored in BG's victory at Kent State .. assist came in the Falcons' come-from-behind win at Toledo to close the regular season ... scored during the PK phase of the Falcons' MAC Tournament semifinal match vs. Ball State ... that gave the Brown and Orange a 3-0 lead, and the Falcons advanced by that 3-0 result after a BSU PK try was saved on the next kick.
2006
Named the Falcons' MVP on offense after leading the team in scoring ... played in all 20 games, starting 19 ... started each of the season's final 18 contests ... led the Falcons in scoring, with 10 points ... had a team-high four assists while tying for the BG lead in goals, with three ... had eight of her points in MAC matches, tying for the team lead ... scored match-winning goals in back-to-back games to open the MAC schedule, against Northern Illinois (Sept. 22) and WMU (Sept. 24) ... the goal in the NIU game came with just one second remaining in the first half of play, and was the lone tally in BG's 1-0 win ... then, one-timed a Stacey Lucas cross into the net -- arguably BG's prettiest goal of the season-- 15 minutes into the WMU match for the eventual winner ... also scored vs. Central Michigan (Oct. 20), converting a penalty kick ... had assists on winning goals against Xavier (Sept. 1) and Youngstown State (Sept. 8) ... other helpers came in the Akron (Oct. 8) and Buffalo (Oct. 15) matches ... had a team-high eight points in home matches, scoring all three of her goals at Cochrane Field.
2005
Played in 21 contests, making nine starts ... had three points on a goal and an assist ... first collegiate goal proved to be the match winner in the Falcons' 2-0 victory over Miami in the MAC Tournament semifinal home win (Nov. 4) ... had an assist at Cochrane Field, in the season opener vs. Oakland (Aug. 26) ... had eight shots on the year, with four on goal ... half of each of those totals came in the aforementioned Miami match.
2004
Played in 12 matches, making five starts ... had one assist ... started five consecutive matches as BGSU clinched a MAC Tournament berth ... first career start came in the Northern Illinois contest (Oct. 22) ... had an assist in the final league regular-season match, as Kristy Coppes converted her long diagonal crossing ball for the opening goal at Toledo (Oct. 28) ... also started the conference tourney quarterfinal win at Kent State (Nov. 2) ... saw action off the bench in the MAC Tournament championship-match win over Central Michigan (Nov. 7).
HIGH SCHOOL
Earned four letters at Padua Franciscan ('04) under coach Narlin Shadd ... totalled 60 goals in her four years, as the Bruins won the North Coast League title every season ... the league MVP her senior season ... a three-time all-league first-team pick after earning second-team honors as a freshman ... also earned All-Greater Cleveland Honors every year ... team had a four-year record of 64-10-3, including a perfect 24-0-0 mark in the NCL ... Honor Roll.
PERSONAL
Danielle Marie Cygan was born Sept. 17, 1985, in Cleveland ... sport management major ... daughter of Jeff and Debbie Cygan ... one of two children ... twin sister, Denise, also played for the Falcon women's soccer team in 2004 ... father played soccer at Akron and tennis at Cleveland State ... has played club ball for the Internationals, helping the team to eight consecutive state titles.
