Abiola Sandy, a recent senior who completed his eligibility with the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team, was named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches All-Ohio squad. Sandy is one of 16 players to be named to the squad and one of five players from a Mid-American Conference program to earn placement on the All-Ohio list

In his final season with the Orange and Brown, Sandy ranked first on the team in goals (5) while taking a secondary lead in points (10) and game winning goals (1).

On Sept., 14 he broke free and buried a late goal in overtime to give the Falcons their first home win of the 2007 season. As a result, BGSU beat the University of Central Arkansas and went on to place second in the Falcon Classic. He also netted the lone goal in the Falcons second day loss at the Classic.

As the season progressed, Sandy's penalty kick at Wright State University later translated into BG's first win over the program since 1983.

During the MAC season he also sank a PK versus Hartwick. Late in the league schedule, Sandy combined with three of his teammates to down the Broncos of Western Michigan to earn the largest win in head coach Fred Thompson history, 4-1.

Through his career, the Chaguaras, Trinidad and Tobago native recorded eight goals in his 62 games played including those career-high five in 2007.

Earlier this season, he was also named to the second-team All-MAC squad.
