Dave Whitmire is in his seventh season with the BGSU coaching staff. He serves as the outfield coach for the Falcons, while also handling first-base coach duties.

Whitmire is a teacher at Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio. He came to BGSU after serving two years as an assistant coach at Owens Community College. There he helped the Owens Express to two OCCAC championships and a Region 12 championship in 1999-2000.

Before Owens, Whitmire was head baseball coach at Otsego High School for three years, leading the team to a 48-26 record during that span, including a 30-14 league mark. Otsego won its league championship in 1997. He began his coaching career at Elmwood High School as junior varsity baseball coach in 1994. Whitmire is founder and president of the Northwest Ohio Amateur Baseball League and the Northwest Ohio State Director of USSSA Baseball.

Whitmire has also coached a wide variety of highly competitive baseball teams and most recently was head coach of the Whitehouse American Legion Baseball Team. Whitmire served as head coach for three seasons leading the team to a fifth-place finish at the World Series in Bartelsville, Oklahoma, in 2003. On the way, the Whitehouse team captured the District, Ohio State, and Great Lakes Regional championship titles with a 43-14 record. In 2002 & 2004 Whitehouse finished as District Runner-up. In three seasons at the helm of the Whitehouse squad he compiled a 94-42 record.

Whitmire, 37, is a 1994 BGSU graduate and was a member of the Falcon baseball team from 1989-90, earning his bachelor's degree in education. He is a 1989 graduate of Bowling Green High School where he was a standout baseball and basketball player earning first team All-Northern Lakes League honors in both sports. Last summer, he earned his masters degree in educational administration from the university.

Born November 18, 1970 in Bowling Green, Ohio, he and his wife, Annie, reside in Maumee along with their three-year old son, Tanner and Camren, born last June.
